4 Common Excuses Entrepreneurs Make When it Comes to Charging Your Worth
Owning a business is tough work. This is especially true when you have some experience under your belt, you’re ready to level up, and you’re ready to charge more for your services — but there’s one small problem.
You don’t know how.
It’s a tough spot to be in, and chances are, you’ve felt this exact way too.
Allow me to let you in on a secret. You’re not alone.
I’ve noticed an all-too-common thread lately with my coaching clients. Each of them has a reason for not charging more when it comes to their work — yet they ALL know they deserve more.
So what gives?
In my experience as both a wedding and event entrepreneur and a coaching professional, there are 4 excuses I hear over and over and over again when it comes to pricing.
Wedding and event professionals don’t charge their worth for one (or all four) of these reasons.
- Zohe, I’m already having too much trouble having people hire me as is. It would NEVER work at a higher price/rate.
- I’m not really sure what my work is worth and what it could command.
- 3. I’m terrified to raise my prices – where will I find customers who can pay that?
- Times are tough – I don’t want to contribute to people’s challenges by making it hard for them to pay me.
I get it. It’s a tough spot to be in, but I’ve found that when my clients struggle with any of these, the same thing always follows.
As soon as they let these excuses dictate their actions, they start to underprice their services. And when that happens.
They don’t get hired because people don’t see their value (i.e., they think their services are cheap, too good to be true.)
They get hired by the wrong clients that don’t fit their ideals or see what value they bring to the table.
Their creative superpower is being sucked right out of them, and they begin to hate their work.
They turn into “affordable order takers” vs. creative professionals.
Ouch, right? None of these situations is ideal or going to help you build the business of your dreams.
You’re probably wondering by now— How then, Zohe, can I fix this?
You must first understand that you’re in this particular bind because of a scarcity mindset. In order to break free of this vicious cycle, you’ll need to break free of the scarcity mindset — and I can help you do just that.
Schedule a complimentary Breakthrough Call this week, and we can dive deeper into these four excuses when charging your worth. I’ll help you to see if you’re making any of them and, if so, how you can break free of them and (finally) start charging your worth.
