How to Be More Confident When It Comes to Charging Your Worth as an Entrepreneur

One of the most common questions I get from my coaching clients is this: Zohe, how do I charge my worth?

I’ve met hundreds of uber-talented creative event and wedding business owners. But so many of them have the exact same issue.

They are undercharging their worth.

They feel like they won’t get hired unless they lower their prices. They feel like their work isn’t good enough to command a higher price tag (I’ve seen their work, and this couldn’t be farther from the truth). And some just simply don’t have the confidence to sell their services and go after their worth.

Here’s the thing. As an entrepreneur, one of the most important things you can do is to believe in the value of your work. This makes it easier to confidently charge what you are worth.

But I do know — this is easier said than done, especially if you are just starting out or if you are prone to self-doubt. Here are some tips to help you be more confident in charging for your creative event and wedding services.

  1. Understand your worth. Sounds simple right? Hear me out. One of the first steps to being confident in charging your worth is to have a clear understanding of what VALUE you bring to the table. This means taking the time to assess your skills, experience, and value proposition. Consider what makes you unique and what sets you apart from your competitors.
  2. Do market research. It can be helpful to do some research on what others in your industry are charging for similar services. This will give you a benchmark to work from and help you see where you fit in the market. Just be sure not to undervalue yourself based on what others are charging – remember, you are worth what you are worth, regardless of what others are charging.
  3. Communicate your value. When you are negotiating with potential clients or partners, be sure to clearly communicate the value that you bring to the table. Know that this takes time and practice to get just right, so do a couple practice calls with a friend or mentor to help iron out any details and build your confidence. This might include highlighting your skills, experience, or unique approach to problem-solving.
  4. Let go of what isn’t for you. No matter how good your pitch, how many years of experience, or how talented you are, some clients are still going to try to negotiate your services. Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. It’s okay to say no to an offer that doesn’t align with your values or worth because this opens up space for someone in your calendar who does.

In conclusion, being confident in charging your worth as an entrepreneur is essential for the success of your business. By understanding your value, doing your research, communicating your value, and learning to let go of what isn’t for you, you can confidently charge what you are worth and build a successful business.
